One Ski Hill Place – A RockResort has a high-class aquatics center. From 2 indoor pools, one for adults, and a kiddie pool that has a sloped beach entry. They have both indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a grand fire pit overlooking Peak 8, and a sauna. The pool area has panoramic glass walls and ceilings so you can relax indoors while enjoying the beautiful winter scenery. And of course, don’t forget to check out their full service spa! There’s plenty for the entire family to enjoy here, as they also have a state of the art movie lounge equipped with movies for all ages, popcorn, leather chairs, and game consoles! Feelin’ more active? Well go play in the indoor bowling alley with the family! From conference and business centers to all family fun, there’s surely something here for everyone!
The rooms are exquisite, just like your own little apartment. They come in several different layout choices as well. With your own washer/dryer in the room, full size kitchen, balcony overlooking Breckenridge Mountains, it truly is a vacation home away from home! And what kind of resort would it be without 24-hour front desk services?
Hungry? Well you don’t even have to leave the resort as they have a full-service restaurant, café, lounge, and a really cool après-ski bar. I enjoyed a buffet breakfast that was just delicioso! Gluten-Free options as well! They had a huge spread from freshly made oatmeal to yogurt parfaits, pastries, bagels, and even a chef who was making made-to-order omelets! But the après ski bar is an absolute must-see! It’s gorgeous wood, with views that are ridiculous, and bartenders that will make you feel super warm in no time! They even have live music. Just come in from skiing- no problemo as it’s right off the mountain trail and they welcome ski clothes!
Breckenridge is a sweet place to visit. Owned by Vail Resorts, it has 187 trails from beginner to expert. No wonder so many events are held here! They have 33 lifts with a base elevation of 9600, and a summit of 12,998 you better wear warm clothes! There is over 2900 acres to ski on! At the peak of every lift, don’t forget to smile as the Vail Photo Team will snap your pic, scan your lift ticket and it will upload to your Epic Mix account.
What is Epic Mix? Well, you have been missing out! It’s a new app program they have at all Vail Resorts Mountains! They scan your lift ticket, then you download the app onto your phone, and it will tell you all of the lifts you have been on for the day, upload all of the photos they take of you and your crew for the day, and has fun little games you can play! Like a certain trail? Well, check your app on how to get back to it! Makes skiing way more easy- no more paper maps, which is also eco-friendly! What else makes Breckenridge intriguing is that it’s home to many different types of championships. Whether it’s the Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championship, or the Snowboard Dew Tour, the X Games, or even the Olympic Qualifying Games– they are known to be home to many world-known champions. If those slopes could talk!
If you haven’t been on the mountain and are too scared- well this is JUST the place to get off your butt and learn! They have many champions and pro athletes who teach all levels of skiing and snowboarding. And if that wasn’t enough to get you out here- you should check out their snowmobiling trails! Oooh yeah! Tired of skiing and looking for some more fun? Well you have to check out their snow tubing area, and….. their snow roller coaster! What? Yes, you heard me correctly, they have a snow roller coaster called the Gold Runner!
Once you’re on the mountain, don’t forget to bring your money and ID’s as a stop for a hot toddy is much recommended at one of their many bars and cafes on the mountain! With 8 places to choose from, you don’t have to come off the mountain to catch some grub, drinks, or just rest up!
Not too far away, I also found this AWESOME dog sledding place called Good Times Adventures. What an incredible experience! It’s a 6-mile tour where the dogs are connected to a sleigh they pull. We get to take turns and drive the sleigh! One person sits in the sled, and the other stands behind it steering and you take turns! The guide rides in front of the dog team, separately on a snowmobile to set the pace. It’s a phenomenal experience! Dress super warm as it was snowing when we went, but they do have snowsuits, boots, etc. on site to borrow if you need. You’d think driving the sleigh would be easy but NO!!! Lean too far to one side and your sleigh-riding partner in crime may get launched into a snow ditch! But the dogs are sooooo cute. They would start whining if we stopped as all they wanted to do was be free and run. The guide informed us how these dogs need to run all of the time, it’s not cruel, it’s their species, and you really learn a lot about them. Plus it was a romantic experience for my boyfriend and me! Don’t forget to pose for photos at the end! They print them out for you and it makes for a great memory!
The town of Breckenridge is absolutely adorable and quaint. They have many shops to buy gear, trinkets, and a lot of boutiques. You will definitely find some great buys. There’s this one hat shop you HAVE to check out as they have some of the world’s CRAZIEST hats! We spent an hour in there trying on all kinds of ridiculous finds! It’s super fun, and great photo ops! We went out into the town for a few nights and enjoyed some local bands playing. Some of my fave restaurants that you MUST check out while in town are Modis, Ember, Hearthstone, and my fave: The Warming Hut. Breckenridge sure has it all from family fun to romantic getaways, to sports ventures!
